The Lake History

The Lake Tillery area was purchased by CP&L in the 1920s and has remained untouched for more than 80 years. It is a man-made lake between Badin Lake and Blewitt Falls Lake and was created by the damming of the Pee Dee River, which is newly formed by the junction of the Yadkin River with the Uwharrie River several miles to the north. It is located within Stanly and Montgomery Counties and is used for hydroelectric power, recreation and drinking water purposes.
